limbo
Hospital Dream
In the deepest sleep I rest upon a black wave,
floating, drifting in the absence of wind
under the sedation of a hospital dream.
The surgeon's knife faux and dull
through the insensate of skin, tissue and bone.
My inert body rocking to the lullaby of the dead,
my weightless soul evaporating to become a cloud.
Sky rains consciousness as I crawl
from an ocean of anesthesia,
awake upon this earth again.
