Lovers On Our Backs (In A Salton Sea)
when you surrender,
tender
beneath the weight of me,
waiting patiently
for the wash, the roar, the hum,
somewhere an ocean empties
completely,
only to fill again
with the sweat and moist
of collapse,
in waves upon a beach, upon a bed,
leaving you and me,
lovers on our backs,
emptied out, asleep and adrift
in a Salton Sea.
when you surrender,
tender
beneath the weight of me,
waiting patiently
for the wash, the roar, the hum,
somewhere an ocean empties
completely,
only to fill again
with the sweat and moist
of collapse,
in waves upon a beach, upon a bed,
leaving you and me,
lovers on our backs,
emptied out, asleep and adrift
in a Salton Sea.
